London Drugs wants consumers to know that they are armed and ready to take on their Black Friday rivals in order to ensure they get their share of Canada’s November’s retail sales, which last year rose to a record high $43.03 billion dollars.

Reuters reported this Statistics Canada figure back in January 2015 after all the dust had settled following last year’s retail holiday season.

Like other retailers, this family-owned and operated Western Canada based retail giant has already announced their Black Friday and Cyber Monday door-crashers and sales along with Cyber week offerings and early store openings. However, in a news release issued today, they were very specific as to how their 78 stores will meet their competition.

 Staff iPad Equipped

“We’ll match any Canadian competitor’s advertised price on identical products we sell. Store staff are equipped with iPads for immediate price comparison while shopping in our stores.”

Many retailers advertise that they will match their competitor’s prices. Often there will be a splash on the front page with fine print with exceptions and exclusion in the back. With that said, I can’t recall ever reading in advance any details as to how the comparison would be done or specifically hearing about what type of device would be used to confirm the competitor’s price, i.e. an iPad.

I think this should be a very interesting holiday shopping season.

I’m curious as to whether you price match when shopping. Please feel free to comment and  take our survey.

Happy Shopping. Let the games begin.
